Website/Computer Server Security and Document Destruction

XOGENT, LC protects the network infrastructure of Family Mortgage of Georgia by implementing the latest firewall and network security systems.  All Internet and network traffic is logged and monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Firewall monitoring is mainly investigating any unusual activity.  Some of the activity may include port scanning where intruders will try to find an “opening” in the firewall.  Programs are used to ping, or in other words try to unlock a door with random keys to try and gain access.  Even so, the intruder would still have to crack Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Kerberos authentication to gain even further access.  XOGENT protects this from happening by keeping only the needed ports open and blocking any other incoming traffic.  Ports are randomly changed to help prevent this type of breach as well.  The type of firewall we use for Family Mortgage is used among large institutions and has been tested thoroughly for breaches.

Family Mortgage of Georgia conforms to the latest Microsoft Security Policies to help ensure information is protected and secured from outside intruders.  The Microsoft policy includes using ten characters or more and the use of pass phrases, rather than passwords.  Passwords are also changed at standard intervals.  All the latest security patches are installed on the server as well as the workstations.  Your private information in the private network is locked down accordingly to each employee level.  Information is even restricted to only those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data.  Backups are run every night to protect your data in case of a total loss.  The backup tapes are never “thrown out” or passed around to anyone.  If any backup tapes are to be disposed, they are completely shredded.

Family Mortgage of Georgia meets and exceeds all the electronic standards set forth by the United States Government and the State of Georgia.

Document Destruction

In addition to computer security, Family Mortgage utilizes the services of Iron Mountain Document Destruction. Each member of our team is trained to properly dispose of any paperwork generated by this office. The contents of this bin are shredded by Iron Mountain onsite every two weeks. This way we insure that nothing leaves our office without first being destroyed.

Mail Call: Bills, a letter from your Aunt Mary, a circular from a local department store, your monthly bank statement, and an offer for a new credit card that says you’ve been prescreened or prequalified.   A “prescreened” offer of credit? What’s that?

Many companies that solicit new credit card accounts and insurance policies use prescreening to identify potential customers for the products they offer.

Whether playing, shopping, studying or just surfing, today's kids are taking advantage of all that the web has to offer. But when it comes to their personal information online, who's in charge? In an effort to put parents in the catbird seat, the Federal Trade Commission has established new rules for website operators to make sure that kids' privacy is protected while they're online.

These rules are part of the 1998 Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
